Mumbai, June 8 -- It's confirmed that Ajay Devgn will be a part of Rohit Shetty's sequel to his 2011 blockbuster Singham, tentatively titled Singham 2: Return Of The Lion.
And now, we've been informed that the movie, which in all likelihood will go on the floors this December, is slated to release in the same week in 2014 as when the original released.
In a recent interview, writers of the original, SajidFarhad, who are also working on the sequel said, "After Chennai Express, Rohit will be working on Singham 2." And now, a source close to the production reveals, "As of now, only Ajay and Rohit are on board for the project. They're looking to begin the shoot by the end of the year and want to release it in July, 2014, around the same date as the original, which released on July 22, 2011."
It seems as if July is a lucky month for Rohit. For two consecutive years, his movies which released in that month, went on to become a part of the coveted R100 crore club. The source adds, "Even in 2012, Bol Bachchan released in July and it was a massive hit. Not like he's superstitious, but co-incidentally, that period has turned out to be lucky for him."
Speculation is rife that Kareena Kapoor may be roped in to play the lead opposite Ajay. The source says, "Nothing has been finalised so far." However, if the actors come on board, this will be their fifth film together after Omkara (2004), Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and more recently, Satyagraha, which is slated to release this August.
