When Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che was recently submitted to the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the director was quite anxious about the rating it would be given.
He was worried primarily because the movie touches upon the sensitive subject of the Gujarat riots. However, the makers heaved a sigh of relief earlier this week, when the film was granted a ‘Universal’ viewing certificate by the CBFC. “The Censor Board wants the movie to reach out to the masses, as it delivers a strong and powerful message,” says a source.
The relieved director adds, “Not only did Kai Po Che get a U certificate, but it also got it with absolutely no cuts. They (CBFC officials) saw the film for what it is and the spirit it has been made with. I’m delighted.”
